Why are this the 3 key points of Self-development? The Ultimate Hobby!

Self-development is defined by the Oxford dictionary as “the process by which a person’s character or abilities are gradually developed.”

People rarely know who they have the potential to become. Some people may have a dream, some might even create a vision or even some form of a plan of how to achieve that vision. Some people might execute on that plan and some might not even get to think about the greatness that resides in every single one of us.

However, even most people with a plan often get sidetracked into secondary activities and/or innactivity in their plans.

In order to become the best you that YOU can be, self-development has to become your hobby. Almost like a platform that you add and run other apps from.

The 3 key points in this snappy blog are:

1. Every failure is a lesson in disguise

2. The best path for some can be a wrong path for others

3. Do a little everyday

Self-development is a mindset that will carry you through challanges and allow you to see the world from different perspectives.

The challenge is seeing that required process through.

Self-development is an art, science, sport, passion and/or a hobby. It is ultimately anything you want it to be because you chose what you want to self-develop in.

Yes, it takes time, it requires patience and a strategic structured approach. It often times will ask you to step outside of your comfort zone. It can be challenging  and that’s often the point – people grow when they are enter into new areas.

However, the biggest challenge when it comes to self-development is the process itself. People really struggle with the path and all its twists and turns, much more than they do with any single obstacle. You see it is all about the long-term vision on which you then build a plan which you then disect into manageable pieces and you execute on this as regularly as it is posible.

The following are some well tried truths to organize your mindset around.

1. Every failure is a lesson in disguise

Self-development is a mindset.

To one person, a life situation going poorly or a relationship ending in a mess means failure. However, there are those who observe what is happening around them, keep their mind calm and their thoughts collected in order to learn their newest lesson on their path to self-development.

If you can learn from the mistakes that you live through, you can avoid repeating these in the future and you will ultimately learn to move faster forward your goals.

2. The best path for some can be a wrong path for others

As the saying “All roads lead to Rome” same metaphore can be applied to describe the self-development mindset. There are many paths to take when one is reaching for self-development.

Sometimes it can be easier to emulate what other people have done to get where they are. You can learn from others and use not only their “map” and goals, but also their paths. Before you do so, please first make sure that their path and their results are really what you want your life to be.

Either way, get a map of the landscape, have your internal compass ready (to find out where exactly you are on the map of this landscape). The next step is to take a good scutanising look at what lies on the path ahead of you just so that you are aware of the obstacles and the difficulty of terrain that you’ll get to face. And then simply take the first step on the path of your self-development that will take you from where you are now to where you will find the best “potential” you.

3. Do a little everyday

Only a few people manage to maintain the level of focus and discipline that are needed to succeed. Also, even if you do a little planning, rather than doing the task that you’re dreading, it is still more than a 1000% better than doing absolutely nothing..and you’ll see that next day you feel much better than you usually feel on the days when you failed to act.

b. Micro-habits. If you feel like today is the day when you should avoid working on your plans, then tell yourself that you’ll only read one sentence, only do one push up. Whatever it is that you have to do, just tell yourself you just do a little, one minute, just enough to tick it off your to-do list. Once you start don’t stop…see how much you’ll get done. Cheer yourself up, use your momentum and just let it happen. Either way, even if you do just that one minute it is still more that a 1000% better than doing absolutely nothing al all.
